Modern Pentathlon Movie

In 1994 Dolph Lundgren starred in the Hollywood movie Pentathlon. It tells the story of a GDR Modern Pentathlete who flees into the west and then finds his way back to sport.

It shows the complexity and the completness you have to have as an pentathlete with the five events. Quite cool, as I think. Olympic Champion Arnd Schmitt was involved as a fencing coach at the filmset back in those days.

After shooting the movie Dolph became friends with the sport and some athletes and followed the U.S. Team on some competitions such as the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

Long before the 2007 Ironman Movie in Germany came out, which is a pretty much a similar story,
a little bit more drugs involved and more of the german view on things, it is a movie
about fascination and guidance sport can have on people. Like so many things
only a movie, but with some truth to it...
